This works great. It keeps the cows in our pasture. Even the bull is starting to understand not to get too close. It's great not having to worry about my power going out, this thing stays charged all the time. I would highly recommend this product.

I have found this solar electrical fence very useful; and it works nicely keeping the steer where he should be. I don't have a 5 mile run of fence, so can't say how far it does work, but I don't have to worry about starting a fire in the dry season with this lower powered intermittent zapper. I have seen it kill weeds though. And it does take longer to recharge in the sun [And I live in Florida] if it has completely drained out because the deer have shorted it on the fence. More than a day. So I keep an extra battery about, which seems to re-charge up quickly if it had previously been charged.
