Stephen K. Buffaloe

From the age of 8 until the present day, Stephen K. Buffaloe has been working with and influencing the development of electric fencing.

 

Things have changed greatly since he was an 8-year-old being paid 25¢ per hour to string electrical fencing in the hills of Eastern Tennessee. Since that time, he has amassed over 30 years of industry experience while wearing many different hats.

 

At a precocious 20 years of age, having received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Tennessee, Steve embarked on his professional electric fence manufacturing career.  Holding such roles as Director of Technical Service and VP of Sales for Fi-Shock® is just the tip of the iceberg for Steve. 

 

Not only was he on the original team that developed the safety specifications for electric fence chargers for Underwriters Laboratories, but for over 20 years, he has been the Lead Corporate Information Contact/Answer Man for all major farm retail accounts.  If electric fence retailers in the lower 48 states and beyond don’t know the answers to electric fencing questions, whether it is Steve’s product or not, they call him.  He will not admit that he knows everything there is to know about electric fencing — just more than every other person.

What he is doing now is a natural extension of what he has always done. He may have left the farm for the corporation, but Fi-Shock® is a corporation that focuses on the agricultural and hobby-fencing lifestyle that Stephen K. Buffaloe has known and appreciated his entire life.

 

An extroverted upbeat person, standing 6’7” tall, Steve is married and the father of 3.  Like anyone else, Steve has had his failures. But without said failures, the rest of the world would not be familiar with the phrase, “you can’t jump an electric fence with a pickup truck.”
